Key Features for Payroll Bureaus

BrightPay is the perfect tool for accountants, bookkeepers and payroll bureaus to manage their payroll clients. It's incredibly flexible, letting you do what you need to do to run your clients payroll, no matter what type of payroll service provider you are or what your situation is. There are no unnecessary limitations or pointless restrictions on what you can do. When payroll is straightforward, BrightPay keeps it simple. When payroll gets complicated, BrightPay makes it easy.

Payments
Process weekly, fortnightly, 4-weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly payment schedules. Run multiple payment schedules side-by-side with one-click access to any pay period. Add unlimited payments, additions, deductions and attachment orders to a payslip and assign an employee to one or multiple departments.
Payslips
Payslips can be emailed, printed, exported to PDF, or added to our employee self-service portal, BrightPay Connect. Payslips can be tailored to add/remove certain information on the payslip, for example, add a company logo or remove the payment method details. Employees can be paid by credit transfer, cheque or cash. 

Payroll Journals
BrightPay includes payroll journal API integration with a number of accounting packages, including Xero, Sage One, Quickbooks Online and many more. This allows users to send the payroll journal directly to the accounts software from within BrightPay. Users can also create a CSV payroll journal for import into other accounting software.


Batch Payroll Processing
BrightPay bureau users can batch process the payroll for multiple clients at the same time. Users can finalise payslips, check for coding notices and send outstanding RTI & CIS submissions for multiple employers at the same time. This is very useful for bureaus, especially those with a lot of single-director companies or payrolls that don’t change from week to week.

Multi-User Remote Access
While BrightPay remains a desktop solution, licences can be installed on up to 10 PCs, and this means that payroll processing is possible by up to 10 users, or from 10 different locations. This is very handy for if you have a number of employees working from home, all needing access to the payroll software. 


Furlough Functionality
BrightPay has a furlough pay calculator, including support for flexible furlough, to help users calculate an employee's furlough pay each pay period. CIS Subcontractors
BrightPay includes a full CIS module in all licences at no extra cost. BrightPay caters for all subcontractor types, including sole traders, companies, partnerships and trusts. Pay subcontractors tax monthly or tax weekly, send subcontractor verification requests, and issue Subcontractor Payment and Deduction Statements.

Reports
BrightPay includes a flexible report builder allowing you to create a customised report of your choice. Choose from over 100 data items and choose which employees to include in a report. Reports can be printed, exported to PDF or saved for future use. Reports can also be made automatically available on our online bureau and client dashboard, BrightPay Connect.

IR35 / Off-Payroll Workers
BrightPay caters for workers who are inside IR35. When setting up the worker as an employee, tick ‘off-payroll worker’ to disable entitlements that do not apply to contractors who fall inside the off-payroll working rules, including statutory pay, student loans, postgraduate loans, directorship, holiday pay and annual leave entitlements.


Pay Employees through BrightPay

HMRC Compliant
BrightPay is fully HMRC Recognised and RTI compliant. BrightPay automatically creates Full Payment Submissions (FPS) as you progress through the payroll year. Other submission types (Additional FPS, NVR, EPS) can be created as required. BrightPay stores all HMRC communication logs, and relays submission errors back to you in a clear, user-friendly format.

Expenses & Benefits
BrightPay allows you to record all types of reportable expenses and benefits that your clients provide to their employees. BrightPay can produce P11Ds to send to HMRC after year-end. BrightPay also supports Payrolling of Benefits, which calculates the PAYE on expenses and benefits in each pay period. The choice of payrolling or P11D can be set on a per-benefit basis.

Automatic Enrolment
BrightPay includes full functionality for automatic enrolment. Setting up a pension scheme, enrolling employees, issuing communication, making contributions and viewing reports – it's all seamless and simple. BrightPay automatically assesses employees, with notifications telling you what you need to do.


Integration with Pension Schemes
BrightPay includes direct integration with various pension providers, including NEST, The People’s Pension, Smart Pension and Aviva allowing easy one-click submissions. BrightPay can also produce enrolment and contributions CSV files for other supported workplace pension scheme providers.

Safe and Secure
All the payroll data for an employer is contained in a single file for simple backup and transfer. Sensitive data is encrypted in the employer file. Employer files can be optionally password protected. Employer files can be stored on a cloud file sync service such as Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive giving you access to the employer files from multiple PCs.
Getting Set Up
BrightPay has a quick and seamless import utility to bring across your client and employee details from a number of payroll packages including Sage, IRIS, Star, Moneysoft and many more. Start at the beginning of the tax year, start in the middle of the tax year, or continue partway in the tax year from migrated payroll records. All BrightPay licences can be installed on up to 10 different PCs.


BrightPay Connect Add-On
BrightPay Connect is an optional add-on which enables secure automatic backups of your client's payroll data to the cloud. With BrightPay Connect, bureaus have access to an online dashboard where they can request their clients to securely enter their employee's payroll information and approve the payroll run. Invite client's employees to their own self-service portal and smartphone app


BrightPay Connect for Clients
With BrightPay Connect, clients have access to a secure online portal which includes many value-added features. Clients can access payslips and payroll reports, view amounts due to HMRC, manage their employee's leave, upload documents to distribute to employees, send the payroll data to the payroll processor and approve the payroll run through their secure online client portal.
