Having previously used Sage payroll software, I wish that I had used BrightPay much sooner. It is such an improvement and so much easier to use.
We were looking for a Payroll software and came across BrightPay. We are not great at technology but we are finding BrightPay easy to use for payroll and HMRC RTI submissions. We have had a few teething setups (our issues) but the BrightPay support answered our queries very promptly and resolved all the very minor issues we encountered by email really quick. We highly recommend them.
Since starting to use BrightPay several years ago I have found the software to be very user friendly and customer service support exceptionally good. I would recommend this payroll package to any employer.

BrightPay was a niche discovery. After previously using various payroll software, which were either too complicated, not fit for purpose or too expensive, BrightPay gave us hope that a decent software did indeed exist. BrightPay is such a simple intuitive software package for all payroll needs, I have used it for Pensions, SSP, SMP and SPP all so simple to use - and all applications I have not used before, their help option is excellent and the information clear to understand.
Having used various payroll software over the years this is certainly up there with the market leaders but at a much more cost effective price.
I have 5 clients who all previously used Sage payroll products, I have now converted them all to BrightPay due to the cost benefits and excellent customer service.
For a small user such as myself, who is just starting out in payroll, the software is great. It is easy to calculate things like holiday pay, etc and it provides great payslips for my employees. I have taken on 2 employees for the first time in the last year and have found BrightPay great for helping me manage the additional admin involved in pensions, etc.

We found BrightPay two years ago but allowed our payroll manager to talk us out of changing because of the disruption. What a waste of a year! This year however we decided to switch to BrightPay.
There was nothing on the market that came anywhere near BrightPay in cost and ease of use and the more we use it the more we love it. We also have Bright Contract and although we haven't been able to use it for our clients yet because of time constraints we are very impressed with what we see.

Being a small company we can actually use BrightPay for free, but on using the software and the amount of time and hassle it saves it is well worth the standard edition fee which we are happy to pay.

I was daunted about processing payroll for the first time until I used BrightPay once. As soon as it became clear how easy the process was keeping track of pay, sick leave and holidays as well as working out the tax amounts which is done automatically by BrightPay, I decided to downloaded the software.
The software automatically updates, links automatically to my chosen pensions supplier and sends out payslips and email notifications with such ease.
I didn't think I could ever be so happy using payroll software! It takes a huge chunk of effort out of my tasks as a sole director.

We have moved over to BrightPay from 16 years with Sage this year. The process was straight forward with no problems. It does what it says it will and no errors so far. Staff re-training was minimal and i have had no demands to return to sage.

BrightPay really helped me, as a small SME, in automating to a large degree the payment of salary, pension, HMRC deductions and so on. The software (MAC version) is pretty good and BrightPay provide excellent notes on how to complete year end and other important HMRC related work.

BrightPay is a good value for money and very user-friendly interface for payroll in the UK. Very good HMRC, NEST interfaces and accurate calculation of pay, deductions etc. Payroll journals are very good and reduce effort.

BrightPay has shown itself to be an easy to use bug free payroll software, which we use in both branches. The ability to print payslips onto blank paper is a cost saver. Its integration with both RTI and auto-enrolment work very well. I just wish all auto-enrolment providers worked with BrightPay to allow such easy updating of data.

I have found this software amazing after using Basic Paye Tools from HMRC, especially with the Auto Enrolment features making things a lot easier, and payslips being printed, as had to do it all manually before.

I only have one regret with BrightPay and that is that I didn't switch over to it earlier - the functionality is very good and for a small accounting practice like mine it represents excellent value for money.
The unlimited company facility, ease of use, and the way BrightPay deals easily with Auto Enrolment means that I am now able to promote payroll services rather than be put off by increasing licence fees that my previous provider charged.
As a new employer I was very worried about what obligations I had. The BrightPay software has helped remove my stress. I can see what I need to pay my staff member and what I need to pay HMRC. BrightPay even generate payslips with my logo to email to staff. I have found the software intuitive and straight forward. With the NEST pension add-on I have found setting up a pension for my staff easier than I was expecting - a big thank you the the BrightPay organisation.
For the small employer there is simply no reason to look elsewhere. And although HMRC's basic payroll software was well intentioned, BrightPay is at least ten times more convenient and easier to use.
We are a small accountancy business and use BrightPay for all of our client payrolls. It is very easy to use, and provides a lot of information needed for different client accounts.
What makes it even better than other payroll software is that it can deal with sub contractors and submit the CIS returns every tax month and produce individual CIS statements for all subcontractors, then a P60 gathers all the information to show how much PAYE, NIC and CIS is to be paid. I highly recommend this to everyone.

So glad I signed up to the cloud backup... worth every penny. Just had computer problems and had to reinstall my hardrive having lost everything. Once I downloaded BrightPay again it was easy to get everything back where It was before.

Having been an IRIS Payroll user for many many years I could not understand the fees they were charging for the Auto Enrolment add-on and compulsory training. After discovering BrightPay it was clear they were using the fear of Auto Enrolment as a money maker.
BrightPay is far more user friendly, much much better value and with better customer support. I can wholeheartedly recommend BrightPay and wish more companies would provide a quality product at a very reasonable price instead of trying to rip people off.

I have not previously had to have employees until 2 years ago and, being older and not very technically minded, I was surprised how easy to use and unscary end of the financial year has been.
This is now my third year of using BrightPay and I am happy to say I have never looked back. It's very easy on the eye and user friendly.
The reports are so easy to tailor yourself which saves me no end of time. The integration with pension providers is seamless and the calendar is so easy to maintain.
If there is something I can't find then the answer will almost certainly be in the help pages.

I was more than a little stunned to find BrightPay. I phoned on three separate occasions just to make sure that they really didn't charge for emailed payslips, or have a fixed charge per payslip for anyone who was auto enrolled and it was limitless companies and limitless employees.
All of the webinars have been very well presented. The plus side goes on and on, as yet I have to find a minus. I wish they did accounts submission, I would be first in the queue.

Brilliant company to deal with and an excellent product. The good thing about BrightPay is that if you have a query you only have to wait a few moments before being answered (have waited over an hour with other providers). If you query is not urgent then an email will get a response within an hour or two.

One of our clients is new to Brightpay Connect this year so he asked for instructions to be emailed to the staff. I emailed them out within about 10 minutes but it was already too late; the employees had already got themselves up & running. I was a bit concerned with how things would work going into the new tax year. I’m sat here now, with a mug of tea, feet up on the desk, congratulating myself (and BrightPay!) on a job well done. A few clicks of the button and boom, all of the information is transferred into the new year, with the updated rates, including the increased AutoEnrolment percentages…talking of which, what a breeze AutoEnrolment is! It’s surely impossible to go wrong, thanks to the little prompts & flags that pop up.

Really excellent feature rich product - takes HMRC's RTI to the next level with minimal expense.
The batch RTI submissions is quick and easy to use, you can even select the employers you want to batch submit.
The integration with NEST is very good saves a lot of time, having it match then no mistakes are made.
I also really like the payroll journal export, especially as you have the option to create your own journals if the book-keeping software is not already supported or if you want something different to what is already created for you.

I had been using Basic PAYE Tools until now and thought it was doing everything it should. Once I started using BrightPay I realised how much Basic PAYE Tools wasn't doing - Basic really is the word!
BrightPay is a class act which does everything for you. It gives extremely clear instructions and is very easy to understand and use. The whole process of working out and submitting PAYE and pensions contributions (including emailing payslips and submissions to HMRC and NEST) takes not more than 3 or 4 minutes on average.

BrightPay is much simpler than any of the other programs I used. The payroll program and help sheets are easy to understand and operate.
The feature that appeals to me most is the personal service I get with my queries when I do anything for the first time, including automatic enrolment, and in my case transferring the data from one device to another.

BrightPay was an absolute gem of a find (several years ago); it's simple to use, but contains all the sophistication needed for larger businesses and being free for small business it's phenomenal. Anyone using the HMRC basic software should seriously look at BrightPay.
BrightPay has freed my time up by its simplicity and speed of use. The more familiar I become with the payroll the quicker I find it to process monthly wages. You don't need any training to use BrightPay as it's so user-friendly.

I've used the free version of this product for 3 years now, as 1 company I run has 3 employees and the other only 1. As I have to do a weekly payroll I've had plenty of practice using it, but it has been easy right from the start. The occasional time I've had a query there's been an email back from Brightpay within the hour. It's very user friendly and links with HMRC to keep my payroll up to date. As they generously allow small companies such as ours to use it for free, helps not for profit companies to continue to exist.
For start up companies with only a couple of employees BrightPay software is excellent. Setting up your payroll is easy as is reporting to HMRC.

I’ve just bought a Mac for me to use for my business and on installing that version of Brightpay I found it was a slightly older release so it wouldn’t open my files. I emailed BrightPay about this and Niamh asked me to email me snapshots of my PC Brightpay files so you could convert to Mac files. I have all of my approx. 30 files ready to use on my Mac. This was done within about 1 hour (and that’s with me having to pop out halfway through sending across my files!)
I was expecting to have to wait a few days, so this service FAR exceeded what I expected. They are a credit to your team!

By moving to Brightpay we have been able to deliver the same payroll services as before at a reasonable cost but with the added extras of being able to email payslips and down the line to deal with the processes of auto enrolment.
Processing payroll via Brightpay does not seem quicker in time than our previous payroll but the difference in time is quite minimal. The difference in cost however means that we can keep our costs competitive.
Nothing on the market compared up to Brightpay. The interface is clean, crisp and modern. Every other solution we looked at on the market is failing miserably. How could we resist?
Could I just pass on my thanks to Caoimhe for the support she has given me with problems I have had setting up BrightPay and NEST. The problems were created by me but nothing was a problem for Caoimhe.
Her support via telephone and email was excellent and the system is now running smoothly. RTI and Pension submissions work seamlessly and the software is powerful yet easy to use. I shall be highly recommending BrightPay.

I have used a number of payroll software packages over the years. Brightpay has been the only one which has provided everything I need down to the finest detail, very easy to use and in the 4 years I have used it I have only encountered 1 problem which was swiftly dealt with. Looking good for 16/17.
Brightpay is excellent. I have been using Brightpay for the past three years, and it is faultless, intuitive to use, and inexpensive.
I transferred over my 15 clients last year to Brightpay. The ease of use, lack of bugs and helpful and knowledgeable support people have confirmed to me that I did the right thing. At a fraction of what I paid before I have a much better service with a company who seems to care what its users think.
I shall be using their new CIS option this year, thus saving more software costs. I am also looking forward with confidence to using the auto enrolment option, having had awful experiences with my previous supplier.
Brightpay is easy to use, great support, CIS function, Auto-enrolment handles all letters etc.
Unlimited clients and employees all for £199 plus Vat for bureau version - can't go wrong with that! I trialed Moneysoft at the same time as Brightpay but chose BP.
I previously used HMRC Basic PAYE Tool (BPT) but when auto enrolment came was introduced, BPT would not adapt or cater for my employer duties. I needed to look for another solution to help me process my automatic enrolment tasks for my employees. Sage was recommended to me but I decided it was not for my small business needs as it was too expensive.
BrightPay was recommended to me by a customer of ours. They too are a small business and she had downloaded the BrightPay 60 trial. Our customer had said that she liked BrightPay and that it was easy to use. On her recommendation I decided to go with BrightPay and I bought it. I also find it easy to use.
The layout is very refreshing and easy to use, it isn't cluttered and everything you need is easy to find.
If you ever have any problems the support team are always very helpful and have a good understanding of the software also, which is sometimes not the case with other software we have used.
After many years with Iris, we switched to Brightpay, and wish we had done years ago!
Any little issues or queries are very quickly ironed out or explained, and they do actually listen (and implement) to suggestions for improvement.
Compared to the excessive charges, sub-standard support, and regular technical issues with PAYE Master and IPP, Brightpay are a dream! So glad to have found Brightpay,and I hope this company never changes or gets taken over.
One of the Trustees accidentally stumbled across Brightpay software on the internet, it was a Godsend, we couldn’t believe it at first, the free access & support to the charities turned out to be true, helps with the smooth running of the charity a lot, providing instant and accurate data, any of our volunteers can use it as it is easy to use, submissions are always on time, professional stationary, HMRC approved, most importantly saving the charity money and time, which anyone delivering or involved in community services knows is a blessing.
Having used Sage and various other payroll programs until recently, I must tell you how much of a joy your program is to use - straightforward, attractive and well thought out, I only wish I had found it sooner!

I have been using BrightPay payroll for two years now in my payroll bureau. I find that it has all of the functions that other, more expensive, programmes have and a few more innovative and very useful functions.
The programme works perfectly with RTI and in my 30 years of experience in preparing payrolls I find that BrightPay is the best product that I have used.

I have been using BrightPay bureau software since the beginning of the tax year and have found it to be the best (and cheapest!) software I have used yet. The interface is simple and pretty much self-explanatory, but if you have a problem, the support is excellent. Would highly recommend.
I have just finished the dreaded end of year on PAYE- RTI and I feel absolutely stupid for not finding BrightPay before. It was so easy I am convinced that I have missed something. But I did work through your great end of year check-list.
I set up the software in February and my, probably very stupid, questions were answered almost instantly by email by Alan Kelly. This in itself is so much better than waiting on a premium line from France where I live, for the HMRC PAYE Tools helpline to say that they don't know the answer so put me through to the technical team for another hours waiting to be told that "The version you are using does not auto update, you have to download the software again!!". Is that Stupid or what?
We are a very small company with just two directors and have never paid more than £5 in total Tax & NI through PAYE. But PAYE-Tools' inability to handle Annual pay dates properly, generated demands for £20,000 estimated unpaid Tax & NI bills which took months and the need to get our MP involved to sort it out.
So thanks very much for your fantastic software and the fact that it is FREE for under three employees is amazing. I still think I've missed something though!

Our company was searching for a new payroll software that is easy to use and manage but most importantly that it is HMRC recognised. As the HR/ Payroll Manager the task fell on me to find the right software that will fit in with our accountancy services.
I came across Brightpay via the internet. I researched further and found that the system was very easy to understand, easy to manage and truly ahead of the times. Their tutorials are excellent and easy to follow.
I signed up for one of their FREE webinars regarding Auto Enrolment and decided right there and then to go with them. Brightpay’s knowledge on current HMRC regulations are very current and concise.
I saved the best for last – Brightpay is an excellent software but I think the gem of the company is their Customer Service Team.It is the best I have encountered so far and my colleagues agree. Whether it is a phone call or email, someone is always there to help you. I have asked for assistance from the very menial issue to the most complicated matters and not once did any of them make me feel inadequate, they are courteous and committed.
In a world that is becoming so distant and digital, it is truly refreshing to get such personal touch and their team and management must truly be commended to the highest level and it goes without saying that we look forward to continuing an excellent working relationship with them.
Having transferred to the new Bureau version of BrightPay (with over 50 clients) I was impressed at the ease of operating this payroll package which has obviously been designed for the future. It is straightforward and logical to use, both for the smallest client to the much larger.
The personal telephone and email support is outstanding and immediate. You deal with a small team of people who get to know you by name – unlike the big payroll operators – very important if you have a problem.
I have no hesitation in recommending BrightPay and I am in the process myself of transferring a recently acquired payroll bureau over to BrightPay from one of the well known payroll providers.
As a seasoned professional, I have used many pieces of payroll software however, BrightPay is the first software I have felt comfortable enough to let my clients use with minimal support. BrightPay was recommended by my accountant. I have always used HMRC payroll for 1 employee and BrightPay is far superior as it can do so much more than HMRC payroll. I no longer have to import data into a payslip BrightPay does that for me and it is first class with help for auto enrolment!

We have run our PAYE for up to 100 employees in house since day one. We started off with SAGE Payroll and ran with them for many years increasingly baulking at the cost. Finally made the decision to move and went onto 1-2Pay for a year but found that to be too clunky and rigid and went back reluctantly to SAGE. Hated it again so after another 3 years moved this year to Brightpay.
Bearing in mind changing your PAYE software is a major task if you have more than a few employees, its a big step into the unknown and untested. Have to say 5 months in and so far so good. Really helpful online tutorials. Support that answers the phone or emails. Fully configured and flexible (to fit various employee types and pay structures easily) at a very reasonable price; providing a payroll solution at a small fraction of the SAGE costs with a far better level of support and service.
Anyone struggling with the high cost and poor support offered by SAGE might find this payroll software a viable and positive alternative.
I've tried other payroll software providers and found them to be lacking in user friendliness etc. even the .gov offering was lacking and gave up the ghost on first submission. That's when I found BrightPay at 11.30 pm on day of submission, got it up and running and submitted before midnight.
I have phoned BrightPay people with regard to a few problems with my lack of understanding of wages etc. a couple of times and had instant knowledgeable replies which put me on the right track. I've never had such knowledgeable people at the end of a phone before! Even tax office has you going round in circles before you get a vague answer.
I've no need to look for any other software whilst BrightPay is around. Using BrightPay will give you a brightday... it has for me!
Love the flexibility of the software, being able to change amended payslips. Great not to have to calculate holiday pay. Reporting excellent, i.e. PDF files easy to download.
This is our first year running payroll in house and Brightpay is the first software package I have used. Before choosing Brightpay I did trial other packages, but I chose Brightpay due to it's user friendly software and the excellent support received by email and phone.
Since running, this live support has continued to be superb; customer service is excellent - any queries are answered immediately in a clear and concise manner.
It's just better and more simple to use than many of the other software packages on the market. I'm really impressed. It's a pleasure to do the payroll!

Only used it briefly for a very short term employee but was amazed at how intuitive and easy it made the whole process for me doing payroll for the first time ever! I had tried 2 other products that were industry "standard" and found them to be virtually useless in comparison.
As a new customer (from Sage) I found the whole process very easy. I only had one query that was sorted on the spot - I wish I had found BrightPay years ago
Have spoken to Ann Tighe on a few occasions and she has always been friendly and helpful. Queries answered every time, very happy with support received. I used BrightPay as a sole trader 3 years ago and loved it. Then moved to a company which used moneysoft and 12pay and hated both. Now I've moved jobs again I was delighted to be able to move back to BrightPay.
Even though it is more expensive than other offerings on the market, I am more than happy to spend the extra as the software is so much better, and the support is first class.
I have recommended the software to other ICB bookkeepers that I meet with regularly, (and others via online forums) and hope to see some new bookkeepers using your software soon, especially with auto enrolment looming. Thank you BrightPay, you are an essential part of my practice.

BrightPay is very cost effective. Our clients love the reports we send to them. The addition of a CIS facility is wonderful. We have also recommended BrightPay to a number of non payroll clients who do their own payroll. I wish I had found BrightPay years ago.
Really impressed with the product, so much so that I am surprised it is not already the industry standard for payroll as it is excellent value, easy to use and the outputs are superb! So much so I have made countless referrals to associates, to which have moved from other larger providers paying so much more per annum until now.
You are treated with respect, your problem is never too much trouble, and even if you are a bit of a technophobe you are not treated or talked to like an idiot. BrightPay has fantastic telephone support. I find it extremely user friendly and the interface is easy to navigate and use. The auto enrolment process for me has been extremely stressful. I really needed help with the various duties I had to perform to comply with the law. I did phone the customer support on several occasions. They were patient and understanding with me and helped me understand the whole process better.
The support received from BrightPay today has been fantastic. Instantaneous and super helpful, thanks Alan.
A great company to deal with that has a super product. Here are the reasons I like to use this software:
- Very easy to use. Many clients can’t believe it is so good for the price.
- The support line answers the telephone quickly and you get to speak to a person, there’s no ‘press 1 for’…… or insulting messages like have you tried looking at our web site.
- Queries are always dealt with promptly.
- The file online routine works well.
- You can use blank payslips or email slips to keep costs down.
- It handles SMP/SSP etc. with no problems.
- Processing time is quick.
- You get a new program every tax year. This means there is no panic at the year-end like with some big providers where you actually have to upgrade their program.
I could go on and on! It really is very good!
We started using Brightpay this year after our previous payroll provider wanted over £500 per year to enable Auto Enrolment. Migrating our data into Brightpay was very easy even though we were part way through the year.
We went live with Auto Enrolment in October and it has been a doddle. Brightpay works out when our employees need to be enrolled and the enrolling and opt out procedures are easy to carry out.
It has built in support for The People's Pension so exporting our contribution file and uploading to the pension portal is really quick and easy.
Overall we've got an easier to use payroll system than before and saved money, win-win all over.

Having been processing payrolls for in excess of 30 years I was aware of the issues in changing payroll system especially mid-year. However I have now been running my payroll bureau using Brightpay for 4 months, initially in parallel with my old system and have found it simple and easy to use.

Having spent years with the same supposed market leading software I feel I have finally joined the 21st Century.
BrightPay makes the entire process of auto enrolment really straightforward. Auto enrolment (AE) is so simple and the whole system is customer friendly. I recommended it to my accountant today and told him it was easy to use and at a good price with high quality support.
We find BrightPay uncomplicated and we like the simplicity of the processing. It makes compliance fairly easy. It's just fantastic!!
I switched to Thesaurus about 10 years ago and have never looked back. When we first switched, I found the product to be of great value for money and it included full customer support.
I was frightened that this may be a price to reel in customers with hefty increases around the corner. I was assured this was not the case and I am pleased to say the price did not increase for several years. This is testament to the honesty of this company who are a delight to deal with.
I review our software providers every year. It is a market that moves very quickly so you have to. The fact that I have stayed with this provider for so many years says a lot.

After shopping around with packages that couldn't deliver what we need, I've trialled BrightPay and tested it with staff joining mid-year, zero hour contracts, calculating holiday pay, pay rises, and joining the pension scheme after a few months.
BrightPay has been able to calculate and log all of these so I'm sure it will prove itself in time saving on payroll and increasing accuracy - and its lovely to use - a friendly and helpful system.

BrightPay processes payroll, prints payslip, communicates RTI information and submits information to our chosen pension scheme (NEST) all with ease. My monthly payroll takes me 5 minutes to process.
